Target Information
The ENPP2 gene encodes a protein functioning as both a phosphodiesterase and a phospholipase. It catalyzes the production of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), which induces growth factor-like responses such as cell proliferation and chemotaxis. ENPP2 promotes tumor cell motility and angiogenesis, and its expression is elevated in various carcinomas. The gene product is secreted and processed into an active form, with multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants identified.
