배경 정보
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanin family). Most members are cell-surface proteins characterized by four hydrophobic domains. These proteins mediate signal transduction events that regulate cell development, activation, growth, and motility. The encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein known to complex with integrins and is expressed in various carcinomas. Alternate polyadenylation sites have been found for this gene.
