Mitochondrial creatine kinase (MtCK)는 미토콘드리아에서 세포질 운반체인 크레아틴으로 고에너지 인산기를 전달하는 역할을 담당합니다.
MtCK는 creatine kinase isoenzyme family에 속하며, sarcomeric MtCK와 ubiquitous MtCK 두 가지 isoenzyme으로 존재합니다.
미토콘드리아 creatine kinase는 dimer와 octamer 형태로 존재하며, cytosolic creatine kinase isoenzyme은 dimer 형태로만 존재합니다.
Sarcomeric mitochondrial creatine kinase는 ubiquitous mitochondrial creatine kinase의 coding exon과 80%의 상동성을 가지며, 미토콘드리아 생합성 과정 중 여러 핵 유전자와 조절적으로 활성화될 수 있습니다.
이 유전자는 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 세 가지 전사 변형체를 포함합니다.
