Target Information
Gamma-MSH은 폴리펩타이드 호르몬 전구체를 암호화하는 유전자에 의해 생성되며, subtilisin-like 효소(prohormone convertases)에 의해 조직 특이적으로 절단되어 다양한 생리활성 펩타이드로 전환됩니다. 이 단백질은 주로 전엽의 corticotroph 세포에서 합성되며, adrenocorticotrophin과 lipotropin beta가 주요 생성물입니다. 다른 조직(시상하부, 태반, 상피 등)에서는 통증 조절, 에너지 항상성, 멜라닌세포 자극, 면역 조절 등 다양한 기능을 가진 펩타이드가 생성됩니다. 이 유전자의 변이는 조기 발병 비만, 부신 기능 부전, 붉은 머리 색소와 관련이 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱 변이체도 보고되었습니다.
