Product Specific Information

The RPA-2.10 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD2, a 50 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, all mature T cells, and a subset of NK cells. CD2 serves as a ligand for CD58 and is involved in T cell adhesion and activation.
RPA-2.10 blocks mixed lymphocyte reaction and cross-reacts with non-human primates and pigs.

Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells; ≤1 µg/test in 100 µL final volume.
Cell number may range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) expressed on all peripheral blood T cells and some NK cells, but not on B lymphocytes. It is among the earliest T-cell markers, present on >95% of thymocytes.
CD2 interacts with CD58 to stabilize adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting cells. This interaction enhances T-cell activation and intercellular adhesion.
CD2 deficiency is linked to reduced intestinal inflammation and immune dysfunction.
Diseases associated with CD2 include penile squamous cell carcinoma and thymic immune deficiency.
