Target Information

HLA-DR beta refers to the beta chain of the HLA-DR protein complex, a member of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class II molecule family. The HLA-DR beta chain is encoded by the HLA-DRB gene and is primarily expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells.

These cells play a crucial role in the immune system by capturing, processing, and presenting antigens to T cells for immune recognition. HLA-DR beta facilitates the recognition and response to extracellular antigens and is essential for CD4⁺ T cell activation in adaptive immune responses.

Structurally, HLA-DR beta consists of:

• Extracellular domain with peptide-binding groove
• Transmembrane domain anchoring to the cell membrane
• Cytoplasmic tail involved in intracellular signaling
