Target Information
MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in MAPK cascades, regulating cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by various growth factors, cytokines, membrane depolarization, and calcium influx. Activation occurs via phosphorylation at serine residues 218 and 222 by Raf1. MAP2K1 is involved in stress response, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation. Mutations can cause cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
