Target Information
Muscarinic cholinergic receptors are part of the G protein-coupled receptor family. Their functional diversity arises from acetylcholine binding, leading to cellular responses such as:
- Adenylate cyclase inhibition
- Phosphoinositide degeneration
- Potassium channel mediation
Muscarinic receptors affect numerous acetylcholine-mediated functions in both central and peripheral nervous systems. Although the clinical implications of CHRM5 are not fully understood, receptor stimulation is known to increase cyclic AMP levels.
