Disheveled DVL2는 dishevelled (dsh) 단백질 패밀리 구성원으로, 척추동물 dsh 단백질은 Drosophila dsh와 약 40%의 아미노산 서열 유사성을 가집니다. 이 유전자는 90 kDa 단백질을 암호화하며, 번역 후 인산화되어 95 kDa 세포질 단백질을 형성합니다. 이는 여러 Wnt 단백질에 의해 매개되는 신호전달 경로에서 중요한 역할을 할 수 있습니다. Dishevelled 기능의 메커니즘은 후생동물 사이에서 보존되어 있을 가능성이 높습니다.
