Target Information
Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) are families of serine/threonine protein kinases found in all eukaryotes. CKI family members (α, γ, ε, δ) are involved in cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair.
CKII typically forms a tetrameric complex (α2β2 or αα'β2). The β subunit regulates the α catalytic subunit via autophosphorylation. CKII activity is high in proliferating and differentiating cells, phosphorylating numerous substrates including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors, and DNA metabolism enzymes.
