CDK5는 Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 계열의 단백질로, 포유류 뇌에서 가장 풍부하게 존재합니다. 활성형 CDK5는 CDK5와 25 kDa 단백질의 이합체 형태로 존재하며, 이 단백질은 35 kDa 신경 특이적 단백질에서 유래합니다. CDK5는 신경계 발달 과정에서 신경세포 이동의 중요한 조절자로 알려져 있으며, 다양한 기질을 인산화하여 세포 부착, 이동성, 시냅스 가소성 및 약물 중독 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
