Target Information
The HNRNPM gene encodes a member of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs), which are RNA-binding proteins that associate with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are involved in pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. Some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. HNRNPM contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and may function as a monomer of the N-acetylglucosamine-specific receptor involved in selective recycling of immature GlcNAc-bearing thyroglobulin molecules. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
