Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by remarkable biochemical diversity. In human epithelial tissues, at least 20 different polypeptides are expressed, ranging in molecular weight from 40 kDa to 68 kDa and in isoelectric pH from 4.9 to 7.8.
Each cytokeratin is numbered (KRT1–KRT20), and expression patterns are characteristic of specific epithelial types and their differentiation states.
