Target Information
KDM5B is a histone demethylase that specifically demethylates Lys-4 of histone H3, playing a key role in histone code regulation. It does not act on Lys-9 or Lys-27 of histone H3. KDM5B functions as a transcriptional corepressor for FOXG1B and PAX9, promoting breast cancer cell proliferation by repressing tumor suppressor genes such as BRCA1 and HOXA5, but may act as a tumor suppressor in melanoma.
