Target Information

PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family.
PDGFRA T674I is a Gleevec-resistant form of PDGFRA. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal cells.
The identity of the bound growth factor determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer composed of PDGFRA and PDGFRB.
Knockout mouse studies indicate the alpha form is essential for kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
