YAP은 Hippo 신호 경로의 핵심 하위 조절 타깃으로서, 세포 증식 억제 및 세포사 촉진을 통해 장기 크기 조절과 종양 억제에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 조직 장력, 3D 조직 형태, 세포 증식, 세포사, 세포 이동과 같은 과정에도 관여합니다. IRF5 유전자 변이는 coloboma를 유발할 수 있습니다.
