This antibody has specificity for Human GAS2.
Target Information
Gas2 is a 313 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene GAS2. It plays a role in apoptosis as a substrate for caspases and is a component of the microfilament system. Gas2 is cleaved by caspase-3 and caspase-7 at Asparagine 278 during apoptosis, leading to rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton and changes in cell shape.
Gas2 is involved in membrane ruffling and is phosphorylated on serine residues during the G0–G1 transition. It co-localizes with actin fibers at the cell border and along stress fibers in growth-arrested fibroblasts. Gas2 is mainly membrane-associated but accumulates at membrane ruffles when hyperphosphorylated. It is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels in liver, lung, and kidney.
