Antibody detects endogenous levels of ENSA only when phosphorylated at Ser67.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a highly conserved cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein (ARPP) family. It acts as an endogenous ligand for the sulfonylurea receptor ABCC8/SUR1, which is a regulatory subunit of the ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel located on pancreatic beta cell membranes. This protein plays a key role in insulin release regulation and is considered an endogenous regulator of KATP channels. In vitro studies show modulation of insulin secretion through KATP channel interaction, and the gene has been proposed as a candidate for type 2 diabetes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
