Target Information
CSMD1 (CUB and Sushi Multiple Domains 1) is a human protein encoded by the CSMD1 gene. It acts as a potential tumor suppressor; deletion of this gene may lead to aggressive head and neck carcinomas.
CSMD1 is part of the complement system that defends against pathogens via classical or alternative pathways. Located primarily in nerve growth cones, CSMD1 inhibits the classical immune pathway and is associated with tumor suppression. Defects in CSMD1 are linked to squamous cell carcinomas.
