Target Information
TOR1AIP2 encodes two isoforms. One is a type II integral membrane protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), acting as a cofactor for the ATPase TorsinA and regulating its localization between ER and nuclear envelope.
Defects in this protein are associated with early onset primary dystonia, a neuromuscular disease.
The other isoform is interferon alpha responsive, with an undetermined cellular role.
