이 단백질들은 ESCRT-III (endosomal sorting complex required for transport III)의 구성 요소로, 표면 수용체 단백질의 분해와 내포성 다소포체(MVB) 형성에 관여합니다. 일부 CHMP 단백질은 핵과 세포질/소포 분포를 모두 가지며, CHMP1A는 MVB 형성과 세포 주기 조절에 모두 필요합니다.
