Target Information
BNIP1 (BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kd-interacting protein) is a member of the BNIP family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects against virally induced cell death, and with BCL2, an apoptotic protector.
Alternative splicing produces four variants of unknown function. The BNIP1 transcript variant contains the full coding region and a conserved BH3 domain associated with pro-apoptotic activity.
