Target Information
Serine/threonine-protein kinase that converts transient diacylglycerol (DAG) signals into prolonged physiological effects downstream of PKC. It is involved in the regulation of MAPK8/JNK1 and Ras signaling, Golgi membrane integrity and trafficking, and cell survival through NF-kappa-B activation.
Also plays roles in:
- Cell migration and differentiation (via HDAC7 nuclear export)
- Cell proliferation through MAPK1/3 (ERK1/2) signaling
- Cardiac hypertrophy, VEGFA-induced angiogenesis, and genotoxic-induced apoptosis
- Phosphorylation of EGFR on dual threonine residues, suppressing EGF-induced MAPK8/JNK1 activation
- Phosphorylation of RIN1, promoting binding to 14-3-3 proteins and competition with RAF1 for Ras binding
- Maintenance of Golgi membrane structure and regulation of vesicle fission in the trans-Golgi network
