Target Information

CEACAM1 is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. The CEA cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins are located within a 1.2 Mb cluster on chromosome 19. CEACAM1 was initially described in liver bile ducts as biliary glycoprotein and later found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia. It mediates cell adhesion through homophilic and heterophilic interactions, contributing to tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation. Multiple transcript variants exist, with two full-length forms characterized.
