Target Information
TLK1 (Tousled-like kinase 1) is a nuclear serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of chromatin assembly. It was first described in Arabidopsis. TLK1 is a target of the DNA damage checkpoint and is rapidly inactivated upon exposure to ionizing radiation (IR). This inactivation is mediated by the S-phase DNA damage checkpoint. TLK1 activity suppression after DNA double-strand breaks, replication blockade, or UV irradiation requires ATM, NBS, and CHK1. Tousled-like kinases are nuclear kinases potentially involved in chromatin assembly regulation.
