Target Information
ADAMTS5, also known as Implantin or Aggrecanase 2, belongs to the ADAMs (A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase) family containing thrombospondin (TS) repeats.
It was first described as ADAMTS5, a protein elevated in mice during the peri-implantation period. Another group identified Aggrecanase 11, elevated in arthritic synovium, later renamed ADAMTS5.
ADAMTS5 is expressed in human and mouse tissues such as heart, lung, cervix, uterus, ovary, brain, cartilage, and various others, as well as in chondroblastoma cell lines.
