Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types and plays a key role in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Beta and gamma actin isoforms coexist as components of the cytoskeleton. Beta actin polymerizes from G-actin to F-actin forming a two-stranded helix. Due to its ubiquitous expression, beta actin is widely used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting. Antibodies against beta actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
