This antibody detects both SARS-CoV nucleocapsid and SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid proteins. Internal testing indicates no cross-reactivity with MERS-CoV nucleocapsid protein.
Target Information
SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid Protein is associated with nucleic acid and is the most abundant protein in coronavirus. Due to its strong immunogenicity, it has potential diagnostic value for SARS-CoV-2. The N protein is an RNA-binding protein essential for viral genome packaging and contains three dynamic disordered regions with transiently-helical binding motifs. Its two folded domains interact minimally, making it a flexible and multivalent RNA-binding protein. SARS-CoV-2 causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to severe diseases.
