The SPRY domain-containing protein 4 (SPRYD4) belongs to a family of proteins characterized by the presence of a SPRY domain. SPRY domains were first described in the fungal Dictyostelium discoideum tyrosine kinase spore lysis A. These domains typically provide binding sites for regulatory proteins or maintain structural integrity through intramolecular interactions.
SPRYD4 is ubiquitously expressed, with highest abundance in kidney, brain, bladder, thymus, and stomach. The precise function of SPRYD4 remains largely unknown.
