Target Information
The TLR8 protein is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, which plays a key role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLRs are conserved from Drosophila to humans and recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) on infectious agents, mediating cytokine production for effective immune response.
TLR8 is predominantly expressed in lung and peripheral blood leukocytes and is located near TLR7 on chromosome X.
