Target Information

Estrogen Receptors (ER) are members of the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors.
The estrogen receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that, upon binding estrogen, undergoes a conformational change enabling dimerization and DNA binding to estrogen response elements (ERE).
ERs regulate gene transcription through coactivator or corepressor recruitment.
Two forms—ER alpha (ESR1) and ER beta (ESR2)—exist, with multiple isoforms of ER alpha (66 kDa, 53 kDa, 47 kDa, 35 kDa).
They are widely expressed and essential for sexual development, reproductive function, and bone health.
ERs are implicated in breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and osteoporosis.
