Antibody detects endogenous levels of eNOS only when phosphorylated at Ser633.
Target Information
Nitric oxide (NO) is an inorganic, gaseous free radical that acts as a signaling molecule between cells. It is involved in vasorelaxation, neurotransmission, and cytotoxicity.
NO production is mediated by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) family members, which catalyze the oxidation of L-arginine to L-citrulline and NO.
Three NOS isoforms have been cloned:
- nNOS (type I, neuronal)
- eNOS (type III, endothelial)
- iNOS (type II, inducible)
All NOS isoforms contain calmodulin, NADPH, FAD, and FMN binding domains.
