Target Information

The human ASH2L gene encodes a 628 amino acid protein known as ASH2L1 (isoform 1), which contains a nuclear localization signal and a PHD finger motif, suggesting that the gene product functions as a transcription regulator.
Predicted molecular weight: 68.7 kDa
Alternative splicing results in possible isoforms at 60 kDa and 56.5 kDa.

Homology:

• 60% with Drosophila ash2
• 90% with mouse ASH2L

Expression:

• Predominantly in adult heart and testis, and fetal lung and liver
• Barely detectable in adult lung, liver, kidney, prostate, and peripheral leukocytes
• Expressed in leukemia cell lines (K562, Hel, Dami) with erythroid and megakaryocytic potential

Functional relevance:

• Involved in hematopoiesis and associated with specific leukemia types
