Target Information

SLIT and NTRK-like family 1 (Slitrk1) belongs to a family of six homologous transmembrane proteins (Slitrk1–6) that share two conserved leucine-rich repeat domains in the extracellular region and have homology to Slit, a secreted axonal growth-controlling protein. These proteins also show similarity to trk neurotrophin receptors in their intracellular domains.
Slitrk proteins are primarily expressed in neural and brain tumor tissues, with Slitrk1 mainly found in mature neurons. Overexpression of Slitrk1 induces unipolar neurite formation, while other Slitrk proteins inhibit neurite outgrowth, indicating their role in neurite development control. Variants of Slitrk1 have been suggested to be associated with Tourette’s Syndrome, though its contribution appears minimal.
