Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins with significant biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight from approximately 40 kDa to 68 kDa and have an isoelectric point between 4.9 and 7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype (numbered 1–20) is characteristic of specific epithelial types and differentiation stages.
Cytokeratin expression patterns are valuable for distinguishing epithelial malignancies and are widely used in immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometry.
