ATF3 (Activating transcription factor 3)는 mammalian activation transcription factor/cAMP responsive element-binding (CREB) 단백질 패밀리에 속하는 전사 인자입니다. 분자량은 약 22 kDa이며, ATF binding element를 가진 프로모터에서 전사를 억제합니다.
대체 스플라이싱된 형태인 ATF3 delta Zip은 leucine zipper 단백질 이합체화 모티프가 결여된 단축형 단백질을 암호화하며 DNA 결합 능력이 없습니다.
ATF3 delta Zip은 억제성 보조 인자를 프로모터로부터 분리시켜 전사를 촉진할 수 있습니다. 이러한 대체 스플라이싱은 표적 유전자 조절에 생리적으로 중요할 가능성이 있습니다.
