Target Information
FTH1은 ferritin의 heavy subunit으로, 원핵생물과 진핵생물 모두에서 주요 세포 내 철 저장 단백질입니다. Ferritin은 heavy 및 light chain의 24개 소단위체로 구성되어 있으며, subunit 조성의 차이는 조직별 철 흡수 및 방출 속도에 영향을 줄 수 있습니다. 주요 기능은 철을 용해성이고 무독성 형태로 저장하는 것입니다. Ferritin 단백질의 결함은 여러 신경퇴행성 질환과 관련이 있으며, 이 유전자는 다수의 pseudogene을 가지고 있습니다. 또한 여러 대체 스플라이싱 전사체가 보고되었으나, 그 생물학적 타당성은 확립되지 않았습니다.
