Target Information
The TRAF1 protein is a member of the TNF receptor-associated factor (TRAF) family, which mediates signal transduction from TNFR superfamily receptors. TRAF1 forms a heterodimeric complex with TRAF2, essential for TNF-alpha-mediated activation of MAPK8/JNK and NF-kappaB pathways. This complex also interacts with inhibitor-of-apoptosis proteins (IAPs), contributing to anti-apoptotic signaling. Expression can be induced by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and TRAF1 interacts with EBV LMP1, linking B lymphocyte transformation to TNFR signaling. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
