Target Information
Ephrin receptors and their ligands, ephrins, mediate numerous developmental processes, particularly in the nervous system. Ephrins are divided into ephrin-A (EFNA) and ephrin-B (EFNB) classes based on structure and membrane anchoring. The Eph family of receptors are grouped according to extracellular domain similarity and ligand affinity. Ephrin receptors form the largest subgroup of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). The EphB6 receptor encoded by this gene lacks kinase activity and binds to ephrin-B ligands.
