cAMP는 다양한 세포 기능에 중요한 신호전달 분자입니다. cAMP는 cAMP-의존성 단백질 키나아제(AMPK)를 활성화하여 다양한 표적 단백질의 인산화를 통해 신호를 전달합니다. 비활성 AMPK 홀로효소는 두 개의 조절 서브유닛과 두 개의 촉매 서브유닛으로 구성된 테트라머 형태입니다. cAMP는 이 복합체를 분리시켜 네 개의 cAMP가 결합된 조절 서브유닛 다이머와 두 개의 자유 촉매 서브유닛으로 나눕니다. 인간에서는 네 가지 조절 서브유닛과 세 가지 촉매 서브유닛이 확인되었으며, 본 단백질은 그 중 하나의 조절 서브유닛에 해당합니다. 활성화된 촉매 서브유닛에 의해 인산화될 수 있으며, 다양한 A-kinase 앵커 단백질과 상호작용하여 AMPK의 세포 내 위치를 결정할 수 있습니다.
