This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of ATM protein only when phosphorylated at Ser1981.
Purity is >95% by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

Ataxia-telangiectasia Mutated (ATM) is a member of the PI3/PI4 kinase family. Mutations in ATM cause ataxia-telangiectasia, a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by neurologic degeneration, immunologic deficiency, and increased risk of lymphoid cancer.
ATM phosphorylates proteins involved in cell cycle regulation, including P53, Mdm2, BRCA1, and SMC1. It plays a key role in repairing double-stranded DNA breaks induced by ionizing radiation.
ATM becomes autophosphorylated and activated upon DNA damage, initiating kinase cascades that regulate cell cycle, apoptosis, and DNA repair. Studies link ATM to apoptosis pathways involving Nbs1 and Chk2 in the E2F1 pathway.
