The SWI-SNF complex is involved in activation of transcription via ATP-dependent nucleosome remodeling.
Brm (SNF2α) and Brg-1 (SNF2β) are ATPase subunits of the mammalian SWI-SNF complex.
Core components include Brm, Brg-1, Ini1 (SNF5), BAF155 (SRG3), and BAF170.
Addition of Ini1, BAF155, and BAF170 to Brg-1 increases remodeling activity.
Other subunits play regulatory roles.
hSNF2L and hSNF2H are homologs of Drosophila ISWI, found in other chromatin remodeling complexes such as NURF.
