Target Information
Heat shock proteins (HSP) are expressed in response to various biological stresses, including heat. HSP90, a 90 kDa protein, is induced under stress conditions but is also one of the most abundant cellular proteins under non-stress conditions. HSP90 associates with intracellular proteins such as steroid receptors, actin, tubulin, and some kinases. It is suggested that HSP90 maintains the structural integrity of steroid receptors, allowing ligand binding during receptor activation.
