Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen.
Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The steroid 11β-hydroxylase gene (Cyp11b-1) is a marker for functional differentiation of cells in the zonae fasciculata reticularis.
CYP11B1 protein consists of 466 amino acids containing a secretory signal, epidermal growth factor-like repeats, and a proteolytically inactive cathepsin B-related sequence.
Human aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) is involved in substrate recognition and conversion, with residue 112 being functionally significant in the N-terminal region.
Glucocorticoid-remediable aldosteronism, an inherited disorder, is caused by a chimeric gene duplication between CYP11B1 and CYP11B2, characterized by hyperaldosteronism and increased levels of 18-hydroxycortisol and 18-oxocortisol under ACTH control.
