Target Information
WFS1 (Wolframin) is a component of Wolfram syndrome, a rare form of juvenile diabetes. It plays a crucial role in maintaining endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis in pancreatic cells. WFS1 expression increases during insulin secretion, while its inactivation can induce ER stress. Chronic ER stress contributes to the pathology of Wolfram syndrome.
