Target Information
MAP4K5 (KHS1) is a serine/threonine kinase that belongs to the GCK family of kinases and acts as an upstream regulator in MAP kinase signaling pathways. In yeast, SPS1/STE20 functions near the beginning of MAP kinase cascades essential for pheromone response. In mammalian cells, MAP4K5 has been shown to activate Jun kinase, suggesting a role in stress response. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for MAP4K5.
