Target Information
MCL1 (Myeloid cell leukemia-1) is a member of the Bcl-2 family, involved in cell differentiation and maintenance of viability. Isoform 1 inhibits apoptosis, while isoform 2 promotes it. MCL1 expression increases in response to DNA damage and is associated with mitochondrial localization. It interacts with pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members such as Bim or Bak to inhibit apoptosis. MCL1 is essential for embryogenesis and lymphocyte development, existing as two distinct isoforms, MCL1L and MCL1S.
