Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine acts as a ligand for TNFRSF27/CD27 and is expressed on activated T and B lymphocytes, but not on resting ones. It promotes proliferation of costimulated T cells, enhances cytolytic T cell generation, and contributes to T cell activation. Additionally, it plays a role in regulating B-cell activation, natural killer cell cytotoxicity, and immunoglobulin synthesis.
