Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40–68 kDa and isoelectric pH between 4.9–7.8.
Each human cytokeratin is numbered 1–20. Expression patterns vary by epithelium type and differentiation stage, making cytokeratin antibodies valuable tools for distinguishing epithelial malignancies.
These antibodies assist in tumor differential diagnosis through immunohistochemistry and are also useful in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
