Cytokeratin 20은 keratin family에 속하는 단백질로, epithelial cell의 구조적 안정성을 유지하는 중간 필라멘트 단백질입니다. Type I cytokeratin은 산성 단백질로 구성되며, heterotypic keratin chain으로 짝을 이룹니다. Cytokeratin 20은 성숙한 enterocyte 및 goblet cell의 주요 세포 단백질로, 위 및 장 점막에서 특이적으로 발현됩니다. Type I cytokeratin 유전자는 염색체 17q12–q21 영역에 클러스터되어 있습니다.
